Commentary: Passover demands we reject cruelty toward strangers in our land

As Jews gather for the start of Passover and share the story of our exodus, we do more than retell our journey from persecution to freedom. The traditional text of the Haggadah read during the seder demands we see ourselves personally in the story — “that God acted for me when I left Egypt.”
